| Notes: | One of Scotland's first major building projects financed through the Private Finance Initative. The hospital and medical school site covers 129 000 sq m, and has over 4000 rooms. The combined construction costs of the hospital and school totals £210 million. At the time of building it was the largest construction site in Scotland. The site was extensively landscaped: over 5000 trees were planted to screen the hospital from nearby craigmillar castle. |
