He studied at Aberdeen School of Architecture and worked in the Edinburgh office of Basil Spence & Partners from August 1955 to July 1956 during his studies. He later worked in Spence's London office. He was elected ARIBA in 1963. His address is given in Dingwall from before 1960 until at least 1970. In the early 1970s he worked in the Moray & Nairn County Architects office in Elgin (was he County Architect?)
He is not listed in the 1979 directory. In 1984 he is listed as having a further qualification (ACIarb) and was working for CIE Consulting Engineers in Saudi Arabia, presumably working on the construction of Dharan International Airport. In 1994 he was still with the same company but working on Taif General Hospital in Saudi Arabia. By this date he was FRSA.
He died at Moss Park Nursing Home, Lochyside on 30 April 2006.
