Born: 26 April 1920

Bio Notes: Gordon James Kinghorn was born on 26 April 1920, the son of James Alexander Kinghorn, cashier, and his wife Elizabeth Hamilton Cuthbert. He studied for a BSc degree in Glasgow. He commenced practice on his own account in 1950 at Irish Street, Dumfries. He was admitted ARIBA in 1950. Peter McMurdo was taken into partnership about 1964, the practice title becoming Gordon J Kinghorn & Partners. A branch office was opened in Tain in 1967 and three years later the Dumfries office was moved to George Street in that town. After the death of McMurdo in 1972, the practice split. In 1975 Donald Marshall and Hugh Fisher was taken into partnership and the practice became Kinghorn Fisher & Marshall; an office was opened in Oban.

In 1988 David Mee was assumed into partnership and another office was opened in Lochybridge, Fort William. In 1990 the practice became Kinghorn Mee. After Kinghorn's retirement at the end 1993, the Tain office closed. Kinghorn would appear to have run the Tain office at this time. He continued to work part-time. He transferred to the retired category of the RIAS in 1997.

He died in Greenwich, London on 24 November 2005.
