Basic Biographical Details Name: | William Mitchell | Designation: | | Born: | | Died: | | Bio Notes: | William Mitchell, of whom virtually nothing is known, practised as a civil engineer and architect in partnership with his brother or son Charles from about 1890 to 1892when Thomas Roland Laugharne, civil engineer, of Rhader, Wales, joined them. At this time there were three addresses for the practice, in Dundee , Edinburgh and Kilmarnock. William would appear to have operated the Dundee office as his address at this time was Lebanon Villa, Wormit. Charles ran into financial difficulties in 1893 and withdrew from the partnership on 31 December 1893. This left Laugharne and William Mitche; William Mitchell was drawn into the bankruptcy suit in early 1895 leaving Laugharne as the only solvent partner. William disappears from Post Office directories about 1895 and may have retired or died about then. | Private and Business AddressesThe following private or business addresses are associated with this : | | Address | Type | Date from | Date to | Notes | | 122, George Street, Edinburgh, Scotland | Business | c. 1890 | c. 1893 | | | St Mary Avenue, Dundee, Scotland | Private | 1891 | 1892 | | | Lebanon Villa, Wormit, Fife, Scotland | Private | c. 1893 | | |
