Charles Mitchell was born in 1862 in Renfrew. From about 1890 he was in practice with his father or brother, William Mitchell, at 122 George Street, Edinburgh. In about 1893 the practice had taken Roland Langhorne (born proabbly about 1861) into the partnership, but this lasted for a short time only and was diissolved on 31 December 1893. Mitchell went bankrupt in about 1894. He appears to be on his own from 1895 working from 132 Princes Street. He joined the RIBA in 1925.
