Bio Notes: Alexander Fraser junior was born in Kirkcaldy in 1852 or 1853, the son of Alexander Fraser and his wife Isabella Bonellie. His father had been born in Saltcoats and apprenticed as a mason in Ayrshire but had moved to the Kirkcaldy area in 1850 and had worked as a grocer (1851) and slater (from 1852). He had commenced contracting by 1861 and later set up his own business as a builder, latterly also working in quarrying.

By 1879 the elder Fraser had taken his son into partnership as Alexander Fraser & Son, builders. On 28 March 1885 another son, John, was also made a partner, the practice title becoming Alexander Fraser & Sons. A further son, William, also became a partner.

Alexander Fraser senior died on 4 April 1903 in his eighty-first year. His business was continued by his sons William and Alexander. Alexander Fraser junior died on 14 March 1911 at the age of fifty-eight. The business continued trading until 1981.
