Bio Notes: John Bald was born in Culross in 1775 the son of Alexander Bald and his wife Jean Christie. He was both a civil engineer and a mining engineer and practised initially in Edinburgh and later in Alloa in partnership with John Geddes. He became a member both of the Royal Society of Edinburgh and a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland. He is buried in Alloa Old Burial Ground where there are four gravestones commemorating members of the family. He died on 28 December 186.
