Basic Biographical Details Name: | Thomas Kerr | Designation: | | Born: | 1880 | Died: | | Bio Notes: | Thomas Kerr was born in 1880 and was articled to William Laidlaw Carruthers of Inverness in 1897, studying in 'a school of art' and passing various South Kensington examinations. In 1902 he moved to the office of Ross & Macbeth in the same town, working on their alterations to Skibo Castle, but he left Scotland for London in the following year, taking a post in the LCC Architects' Department under William Edward Riley. He was still there when he was admitted LRIBA in the mass intake of 20 July 1911, his proposers being James Greenwood Stephenson and Edwin Paul Wheeler, both of the LCC Architects' Department, and Carruthers.
