Anthony Wheeler established his practice as H Anthony Wheeler in 1952 with an office in Sailor's Walk in Kirkcaldy. In 1954 he took Frank Sproson into partnership and the practice became Wheeler & Sproson. An Edinburgh office was opened in 1964. Donald McInnes was taken into partnership in 1965, Andrew Weir in 1967, Alan Clark and William McLeod in 1975.

The practice won 19 Saltire Awards and Commendations and 12 Civic Trust Awards and Commendations
