Ronald Bradbury was born in Reading and educated at the University of Liverpool (graduating MA(Arch)) and the University of Manchester (graduating BA (Arch)). He was elected ARIBA in 1930 and FRIBA in 1943. He also studied at Columbia, New York and was awarded the degrees of MSc and Phd.

He was Director of Housing in Glasgow from 1943 to 1948 following which he became City Architect for Liverpool. His new appointment was recorded in the Builder:

'Dr Ronald Bradbury BA(Arch) Manc. MSc PhD FRIBA AMTPI Director of Housing, Glasgow, has been appointed City Architect and Director of Housing, Liverpool in succession to Sir Lancelot Keay KBE. Mr Bradbury takes up the appointment on September 6 next. He is 40'. [Builder 9 July 1948 p33]. In 1953 he won a prestigious medal and diploma for the first phase of a new housing estate in Southdene, Kirby.

He was still in this post in 1970.
