John William Hardie
Architect
OR (2 Years Selected)
1852
1853
Exact Date
07/03/1928
John William Hardie was practising in North Berwick in the 1880s and 1890s. At the time he designed the Foresters' Hall in Westgate, Hardie was a member of the local Court of Foresters suggesting he was living in the town at this time. He is probably the John William Hardie who is described in the death register as an 'auctioneer'.

John William Hardie was born in 1852 or 1853, the son of John Hardie joiner, and his wife Mary Martin. He was married to Mary Ann Moncrieff. He would appear to have given up architecture at some point, perhaps in the 1890s to become an auctioneer. He died at his home, 1 Marmion Road, North Berwick, on 3 July 1928. He was survived by his wife.
