Thomas McCrae
Architect

1968
Thomas McCrae (mistakenly referred to in some sources as Macrae) practised as an architect on his own account in Edinburgh from c.1920. Nothing is known of his training, but he appears to be the son of Thomas McCrae of 4 Comely Bank Terrace, Edinburgh, as in his first entry in the Post Office Directories (1914-1915) he is referred to as Thomas McCrae Junior, living at 9 South East Circus Place. He was living at 6 North East Circus Place from at least 1922. By 1934 he had been elected FRIAS and had an office at 29 Hanover Street. He moved office sometime about 193 to 58 Queen Street. In at least 1949 he was a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland. He moved house to 4 St Vincent Street c.1951 or 1952, and appears to have retired from practice in 1959. He seems to have died in or around 1968.
