Thomas Geoffry [sic] Lucas - generally known as Geoffry Lucas or T Geoffry Lucas - was born in 1872 and articled to Walter John Nash Millard of Hitchin from 1889. He studied at the atelier of Frank Thomas Baggallay and W J N Millard from 1889 to 1891, attending classes at University College, London, the Architectural Association, and the Royal Academy Schools. He was an assistant with the Scottish London-based architect William Flockhart, moving back to the practice of Baggallay & Millard, then to the office of Leonard Aloysius Scott Stokes and finally to that of Frederick Arthur Walters. He passed the qualifying exam and was elected ARIBA on 4 December 1899, his proposers being Edward William Mountford, Frank Thomas Baggallay and Leonard Aloysius Scott Stokes. He was elected FRIBA on 27 March 1911, proposed again by Stokes and also by Edward Guy Dawber and Henry Thomas Hare.

Lucas commenced independent practice in Hitchin in 1895 and his main works from this period include houses at Hampstead Garden Suburb, houses at Ponders End and Broxbourne and elsewhere in the vicinity of Hitchin, his home town, where he also designed a bank. Thomas Arthur Lodge and Paul Badcock were articled pupils in his office. In 1911 he won the competition for a £500 home, built at Gidea Park Essex. In 1912 he was awarded the Godwin Bursary and after the First World War in 1919 he formed a partnership with Henry Vaughan Lanchester. Thomas Arthur Lodge was taken into partnership in 1923 and the partnership lasted until 1930 when Lucas withdrew to practise on his own.

He died on 3 October 1948.
