David Mackintosh (or Macintosh) was born about 1850 and commenced practice c.1875 as the partner of Alexander Ross of Inverness, running a branch office in Oban from c.1880. By 1886 the partnership had been dissolved, Mackintosh continuing practice alone in Oban. He died suddenly aged only 41 on 2 April 1891 a few yards from his home at Strathaven Terrace, Oban.
