George Coles was a major and prolific cinema architect, particularly in South-east England. His major works included the magnificent Gaumont State Cinema in Kilburn, the Carlton Cinema in Islington and several Odeon Cinemas, commissioned by Oscar Deutsch. He was based in London. He was admitted FRIBA in 1925.
