Notes: Clarke & Bell scheme in the NMRS Clarke & Bell album may relate to the 1844 competition. It has a similar elevation to that of the City and County Buildings but without corner pavilions. On the left hand side there is an arched link to a block of business chambers as in the John Dick Peddie scheme but the elevation of the latter is only partly drawn. The drawing may relate to the Municipal Buildings proposal of 1873 but the street spanned by arch is too narrow to be Brunswick Street at its existing width.

Rebuilding of 1904 - over 70,000 stones from old building used in the reconstruction. Contractor P & W Anderson, Douglas Street, Glasgow.
