GRANGEMOUTH
OPENING AND CONSECRATION OF A MASONIC HALL AT GRANGEMOUTH. The new Masonic Hall, built by the Marquis of Zetland for Lodge Zetland, No. 391, was opened and consecrated by the Provincial Grand Lodge of Stirlingshire last night. The new building is situated in North Charlotte Street, and is partly two storeys and partly three storeys high. On the ground floor there are three dwelling-houses. The entrance to the hall, which is on the second floor, is reached by wide close and stair in the centre the block. The hall, which has a recess at the one end with a platform at the other, is 45 feet long by 22½ _feet broad. The hall is lighted by five double-light windows, and thoroughly ventilated with fresh air in-lets on the windows, and a large ventilator on the roof. The windows are partly of stained glass. The hall is very well finished, and is handsomely furnished, while the floor has been covered with parquet linoleum. It is seated for 180 persons, allowing plenty of room. There is a committee room and ladies' and gentlemen's cloak rooms and lavatory, and the caretaker' house has three apartments, with scullery behind. The architectural style of the block, which estimated to cost between £1600 and £1700, is Scotch baronial. The following were the contractors: —Mason work, Mr James Primrose, Grangemouth; joiner work, Mr A. Williamson and Son. Oxgang; plaster work, Mr Peter Baird. Grangemouth; slater work, Messrs Drummond and Crowe, Laurieston; plumbsr work, Messrs Aitken Brothers. Grangemouth. Mr G. Deas Page. Falkirk, is the architect.
