BONNYBRIDGE FALKIRK PARISH SCHOOL BOARD. A meeting of this Board was held in the Burgh Buildings, Falkirk, on Thursday, when the members present were—Messrs George Anderson (chairman). Brown, Walker, James Anderson, and Jamieson. Mr G. Deas Page, architect, submitted plans for the enlargement of Bonnybridge School. Mr Page showed two plans. Premising that the scholars on the roll were present 450, while the school was only seated to contain 339, he proposed by one plan to add to the school a storey capable of seating 226 scholars, at probable cost of £1350. This would provide additional accommodation for scholars, after making allowance for structural alterations. After consideration, the Board resolved to adopt this plan, and authorised the enlargement of the school according to it. The other plan submitted was take down the front wall of the present school, widening the ground floor 30 feet, and add storey for seating 289 on the upper floor, and 445 on ground floor, the estimated cost being £1,750. This would have provided additional accommodation for 323 scholars.

Opening of the New Public School,—Through the kindness of Mr George Ure of Wheatlands and Mr James Anderson, Dennyloanhead, a company of some 300 people were on Friday night entertained to tea in the large room of the new Public School. The gathering was meant to celebrate the completion and the formal opening of the handsome structure, which is decidedly an ornament to the village and a credit to the architect, Mr G. Deas Page, Falkirk.
