'The house and ground at Mayshade consisting of four good rooms, kitchen without the house and hoursekeeper's room for the accommodation of servants, a stable for two horses, bran and byre for three cows and eight Scots acres of ground enclosed with a hedge and stripe of planting'.
Another advertisement appeared in 1806:
The house consisted of 'four rooms, two servants' apartments with a complete set of offices and about seven and a half acres of ground in grass around the house'. The 'excellent soil' was mentioned. The ground was divided into 'three enclosures each surrounded by trees affording complete shelter'. There was also to be let a cottage of three apartments at the entrance into Mayshade with a small garden and stable.
