The building provides 16 courtrooms, accomodation and offices for the Regional Sheriff Clerk and the Regional Procuratror Fiscal and their respective staff, secure cells, conference rooms, press rooms, a creche, car parking, solicitors and witness rooms and a restaurant. The project was completed on time and in budget, at a cost of £47 Million. The decorative iron work to Chambers Street was designed in partnership with the Royal Fine Arts Commission for Scotland.
Prior to construction the Courts were housed in a veriety of different locations.
