| Notes: | A News Theatre in Oxford Street, Manchester was proposed by British News Theatres in 1934, plans being prepared by Alister Macdonald. However, it was the Jacey circuit of Birmingham that finally opened the Manchester News Theatre in 1936. Notwithstanding the announcements in 1934, it would seem that Alister Macdonald’s scheme for British News Theatres was aborted and the Manchester architect Peter Cummings prepared an alternative scheme for the new owners |
