Basic Site Details Name: | Norrieston Free Church | Town, district or village: | Norrieston | City or county: | Perthshire | Country: | Scotland | Parish: | | Status: | | Grid ref: | | Notes: | The parish church of Norrieston, Perthshire, has just been restored from the designs of Mr J M MacLaren, King William-street, Strand, London. The interior has been entirely remodelled, and a richly-designed pulpit, with carved canopy over, replaces the old one. Decorations have been carried out on an extensive scale by Mr Miller, Stirling, from drawings supplied by the architect. [Building News 25 March 1881 p348]. N.B. This is wrongly reported in the Buildings News. MacLaren did not work on the Parish Church but the Free Church.
The furnishings have been stripped out to convert the church into the church hall, but most of the pulpit survives, re-used in the Masonic Hall at Blairhoyle. | Building Type ClassificationThe building is classified under the following categories: | | Classification | Original classification? | Notes | | Church | | |
