| Easterhouse Development (Easterhouse) | The housing programme for Easterhouse was divided into seven units. The first three were in the southern half of the area, south of the Monkland Canal, and were built between 1956-8. The other four units were built around the planned township centre, north of the canal. Housing areas were basically tenements on garden city layouts, but with more effort to segregate residential streets from main ones. Easterhouse pioneered conservateive timber-windowed tenement types. |
