This became the prototyper for the 'Dovecote' one of the standard house types which Hamilton was to use on the site.

Norval Rowallan Paxton, as apprentice to Whyte & Galloway, drew designs for three house types, 'The Dovecote', The Neidpath' and 'Ingleside' which were used in the development of what is now Third and Fourth Gardens. Another house type 'The Minnow' was developed for the eastern part of the estate.
