Not until 1902 did the Cathedral Committee launch a second open competition to select a design intended for a magnificent new site on a rocky ridge above St James Cemetery. The competition attracted 103 entries including designs from Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Charles Herbert Reilly. Assessors, - George F. Bodley and Norman Shaw.
