The parish church of the village is located north of the central square, along Main Street. A small church hall was built across the road. The church is an important building as it is one of the famous 'Telford Churches', which were built during the early to mid 19th century. As part of the post-Napoleonic wars celebrations the British government established a Commission to build over 40 new churches and manses across the Highlands of Scotland. The renowned civil engineer Thomas Telford was chosen as the architect and he built his churches to a standard, simple plan. Tomintoul Parish Church was built in 1826 at a cost of £750
