The new buildings of the Young Men's Christian Association at Carnoustie, near Dundee, were opened on Tuesday by Earl Dalhousie. They include a hall on ground-floor and a reading-room over the south end capable of utilisation as a gallery to hall. Accommodation is provided for 400 persons, at a cost, including ante-room and caretaker's house, of £600. Messrs C and L Owen were the architects, and the principal contract, that for masonry, was taken by Messrs A and J Black, Messrs D Buck and Son being the joiners. [Building News 7 October 1881 p479]
