A new company, the Rutland Square Picture House Limited is registered for the purpose of erecting a picture house to seat about 2,500 people. A site has been secured at the junction of Canning-street and Torphichen-street on the west of Rutland-square. Plans are being prepared by the company’s architect. In February 1929, a warrant was granted. for amendments including seven dressing rooms and the enlargement of the stage for vaudeville acts
The cinema was opened in April 1930 with seating for 2,187.
