The existing barracks on the site were to be demolished in order to provide officers’ mess room and accommodation for 17 officers and their servants. The proposals were to arouse a certain amount of controversy amongst local architects.
Final drawings were on placed on view to the public. The style was described as “Castellated Scottish Baronial” by the Builder.
