Basic Biographical Details Name: | Timothy Brittain-Catlin | Designation: | | Born: | 5 July 1961 | Died: | | Bio Notes: | Timothy Brittain-Catlin was born on 5 July 1961, the son of John Edward Brittain-Catlin, artist, and his wife Jennifer Ellis Manasseh (Lady Balfour of Burleigh from 1971), public relations executive, later property developer and housing association board member. He was educated at Westminster School, London from 1974-78 and studied for the degrees of MA and BA at Trinity College, Cambridge from 1979-82 and for the diploma in architecture at University College, London from 1983-85 while at the same time studying the the degree of Phd at Trinity College.
Between Parts 1 and 11 of his architectural diploma he worked in the office of Philip Cocker in Edinburgh and between Parts 11 and 111 in the office of Lyster Grillet & Harding in London, followed by a spell in the office of Philip Mercer in London from 1987-1990. In 1988 he was elected ARIBA and from then until 1990 practised on his own account in London. From 1991 to 1993 he worked with the practice Guggenheim/Bloch in Jerusalem and thereafter as project architect and master planner with Thomas M Leitersdorf in Tel-Aviv. In 2000 he worked on his account account again, during the design and construction of his own house in Broadstairs in Kent.
