Bio Notes: Samuel Dennis Wheeler-Carmichael was born on, the son of Montague Wheeler, architect who practised as Hoare & Wheeler. He studied for the diploma in architecture at University College London. He married Violet Penelope Gibson Carmichael on 27 April 1929 and on 17 June of that year he changed his name by deed pole from Samuel Dennis Wheeler to Samuel Dennis Wheeler-Carmichael. The Carmichael were the hereditary owners of Skirling. He was elected ARIBA in 1930. By the 1950s he was practising as Hoare & Wheeler.
