Bio Notes: Herbert McGregor Wood was born on 31 March 1885. He attended Liverpool University's School of Architecture from 1903, obtaining its certificate in 1907. In that year he was appointed lecturer and demonstrator in that school, concurrently with his private practice. In 1911 he left to become chief assistant to John Macvicar Anderson, moving to John James Burnet's London office by 1913. He passed the qualifying exam in that year and was admitted ARIBA, his proposers being Reilly, Stanley Davenport Adshead and Alfred Brumwell Thomas.
