Basic Biographical Details Name: | Charles Ewen | Designation: | | Born: | c. 1855 | Died: | | Bio Notes: | Charles Ewen was born in Aboyne about 1855, the son of John Ewen, ploughman, and his wife Margaret. He was employed as a joiner on the Glen Tanar estate by 1881, living at the Kennels South and by 1884 had become clerk of works. During the 1880s and 1890 she organised a number of picnics for local children. Apart from the scheme for widening the Bridge of Ess and his work at Fasnadarach, no other jobs are as yet known. By 1901 he is described as an architect and was still living at the Kennels South at this time, which almost certainly means he was still the estate factor.
He was married to Jane and they had eight daughters and one son in 1901. |
