Bio Notes: William F Hamilton was born in Bathgate, the youngest son of James D Hamilton, The Vines, South Bridge Street. He was articled to Thomas Roberts, architect and surveyor, Bathgate and after completing his articles, moved to the Surveyor's Department in the Burgh of Clydebank. He was appointed burgh surveyor and sanitary inspector of Bathgate in 1923. He moved to be burgh surveyor of Keith in the late 1920s and then to Fraserburgh in 1931 and to Hawick in 1939.
