Basic Biographical Details Name: | Philip E Miller | Designation: | | Born: | 24 January 1941 | Died: | 15 May 2015 | Bio Notes: | Philip Miller was born on 24 January 1941. he studied at Canterbury School of Architecture and qualified in 1970. He had a post with the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea but in 1985 set up in private practice employng 20 former members of staff from the Borough. The office undertook all the work for the Borough, including the restoration of the major part of Ampthill House, designed by Sir William Chambers.
In 1994 Miller left London to realize a life-long dream of restoring Cairness House in Aberdeenshire, designed by James Playfair. He was an expert on the work of Decimus Burton. Throughout his life he enjoyed lecturing, collecting and inspiring young people.
He died on 15 May 2015. |
