Bio Notes: John Alcock was born in Kenmay, Aberdeenshire about 1861, the son of George W Alcock, farmer of 22 acres and his wife Jane. The family home was at Bandayground, Cluny, Aberdeenshire.

In 1891 John Alcock was a boarder at Blackpark, Boharm, Moray and his profession is given as factor. In the later 1890s he seems to have worked in independent practice in Keith. he acted as agent in the sale of peoperty including mills at Dufftown. He is not recorded in the 1901 census.

In 1905 Alcock emigrated to Canada, sailing from Glasgow to Montreal on the 29 July on the SS Sicilian. His eventual destination seems to have been Winnipeg.
