Bio Notes: John Montgomery practised as a mason in Old Rayne, Aberdeenshire. In 1685 he becamne an honorary burgess of Old Aberdeen in recognition of 'good service' in constructing Bishop Scougal's monument in St Machar's Cathedral. He made a model of the Mercat Cross in Aberdeen out of timber and pasteboard and constructed the Cross in 1686.
