In 1704 he was sent to Dumfries to provide a model of the new town hall and steeple. His design was based on the steeple of the College at Glasgow. It seems to have been executed the following year, 1705, by Tobias Bachop.
In Liverpool Moffat may have designed the new St Peter's Church, 1700-1704 to a design based on Wren's St Andrew's Holborn. It was demolished in 1922.
Moffat died in Liverpool in 1708.
