Bio Notes: John Loban was born about 1781. He was a builder-architect in Stornoway, Lewis. Little is yet known of him other than the fact that he built a church and two manses.

He died about 1846 intestate at which time Miss Margaret Brebner applied to the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury for a gift of the estate which had fallen to her 'Ultima Hoeres' as being the nearest relative on the maternal side. At this time Loban in described as 'builder and contractor' while in the 1841 Census he appears as an architect.
