His name is inscribed in a quarto volume of architectural drawings on Whatman paper dated 1814 (privately owned). The drawings include several of existing country houses in Scotland, for example Ardgowan, Coilsfield and Langholm Lodge. Only one is signed by Johnstone. There are various plans and elevations of the wings added to Springkell House, Dumfriesshire, suggesting he may have been employed there as an architect. |
