Basic Biographical Details Name: | Charles Freebairn | Designation: | | Born: | | Died: | c. 1781 | Bio Notes: | Charles Freebairn was the son of James Freebairn, teacher of French in Edinburgh. The younger Freebairn practised in Edinburgh. He undertook various jobs in Perthshire. In 1756 he was elected a member of the Royal Company of Archers. In 1761 he was admitted a burgess of Edinburgh by right of his father when he was described as a wright by trade.
In the early 1770s he was a 'tacksman' of the mines in Islay and was involved with the sale of their lease.
