Bio Notes: William Donn was articled to Lancelot Brown. He referred to him as 'my old master'. He remained with Brown as principal assistant from the 1750s until 1764. He then opened business on his own account and exhibited various designs at the Royal Academy in the 1760s and at the Free Spociety of Artists in the 1770s. From 1769 to 1773 he was Surveyor to the Westminster Commission of Sewers.

One of Donn's clients was the 2nd Earl of Fife. He was employed in 1766-67 to execute one of Robert Adam's designs for the 'Great Room' at Fife House in Whitehall. In 1767 he was commissioned to make drawings for alterations to Innes House, Morayshire. He may also have designed the Georgian wings.
