Bio Notes: Iain Webster was born on 26 June 1938 in Musselburgh and grew up there. He was educated at Musselburgh Grammar School where he displayed an early talent in art.

He studied for the diploma in architecture and for the diploma in town planning at Edinburgh College of Art and was elected ARIBA in 1964. He worked in various offices in Edinburgh before taking a post with Falkirk District Council. After reorganisation he worked with Central Regional Council and by 1979 he was Chief Assistant Director in the Planning Department there, based in Stirling. He subsequently worked for Stirling Council.

Webster served on various RIAS committees and was involved with the Stirling Chapter.

Outwith his profession he was heavily involved in the affairs of his local community in Bridge of Allan. Throughout his life he drew and painted watercolours, particularly of local buildings which he exhibited with the Scottish Society of Architectural Artists and at Stirling Art Club. He was involved with the management of Alloa Tower, historic churches in the area and the Stirling Civic Trust awards. He also helped promote the local Doors Open Day.

Webster died on 16 June 2014, survived by his wife Wendy and their son and daughter.
