Bio Notes: Donald McDonald Webster was born on 21 October 1924 the son of James Leslie Webster, mine surveyor, and his wife Bessie McDonald Sturton. He studied for the diploma in architecture at Edinburgh College of Art and was elected ARIBA in 1953. He was also MNIA and ARIAS.

From 1952 to 1954 he had a post as assistant staff architect at the Nigerian College of Arts Science and Technology in Ibadan (with another part in Zaria?), being promoted to resident architect in 1954 and remaining in this post until 1955.

In April 1955 he became a partner in the practice Design Group Nigeria based in Ibadan. Still working for the same firm, in 1964 he was based in Ghana but in March 1966 he moved back to the London office. He was elected FRIBA in 1969, proposed by John Godwin, Anthony Mark Douglas Halliday and Alan Scott Beattie.

He would appear to have formed a partnership with Robin Neill Johnston before 1979 who had also worked in this practice in Nigeria.

He is no longer listed in the 1994 RIBA directory.

Webster died on 13 January 2007 at the Western general Hospital, Edinburgh, survived by his wife Margaret Allan Scott, a retired architectural office secretary.
