Bio Notes: Douglas Thain was born in Aberdeen [on 23 March 1940, the son of Walter John Thain, fisherman, and his wife Ethel Smith - probably incorrect.] He studied at the School of Architecture in Aberdeen and was elected ARIBA in 1964. By the early 1970s he had a post with Mackie Ramsay & Taylor. By 1979 he was working in Grampian Regional Council, Department of Architectural and Related Services. He was still with the Department in 1984 but he is not listed in 1994 and perhaps retired by then.
