Charles Abercrombie was an engineer who died in 1817. Abercrombie laid out many roads in the north east of Scotland under the Turnpike & Commutation Road Bill of 1795. Ahe is described in 'Buildings of Scotland' as 'Scotland's first great road-builder'.
