Bio Notes: Ian David King was born in December 1940 and studied at the Scott Sutherland School of Architecture in Aberdeen and was elected ARIBA in 1968. By the early 1970s he had moved to Kirkcaldy. He had the post of senior architect in the Architect's Department of Glenrothes New Town Development Corporation from 1968 to 1987. By 1994 he had moved to the Department of Planning & Development, Borders Regional Council, Newtown St Boswells.

From 2009 he was secretary and later director of the Selkirk Regeneration Company.
