Bio Notes: Alexander Stevens was the son of the architect and engineer Alexander Stevens. He is said to have completed his father's work at Montrose and at Lancaster after the latter's death in 1796. He tendered unsuccessfully for Rennie's Wolseley Bridge in Staffordshire in 1797 and also for Rennie's Kelso Bridge in 1799.

He lived in Edinburgh. He appears in Post Office directories up to about 1811.
