Basic Biographical Details Name: | Alexander Watterston | Designation: | | Born: | c. 1863 | Died: | | Bio Notes: | Alexander Watterston was born in Forfar about 1863, the son of James Watterston, builder and quarry master and his wife Isobel. He trained as a mason as did at least two of his five brothers. Alexander had left Forfar for Dundee by 1891 and by 1901 he had the post of quarry master of Craigie Quarry. In 1904 he applied for the post of Forfar Burgh Surveyor (when he was described simply as 'builder, Dundee') and was selected from a large field. He continued in this post until at least 1911.
