Bio Notes: Daniel Cottier was born in Anderston, Glasgow in 1837. He became a prominent designer influenced by John Ruskin, Dante Gabriel Rossetti and William Morris, and is credited with introducing the Aesthetic movement to America (where he worked with Louis Comfort Tiffany and John La Farge) and Australia.

As a designer, he generally falls outwith the scope of the Dictionary of Scottish Architects, so a full biography is not supplied here. Only his jobs that form integral parts of Scottish buildings are listed.
